Pogba suffers knee injury after arriving at Juventus

A few weeks after joining Juventus, French midfielder Paul Pogba suffered a knee injury, Juventus revealed on Monday.

“Following complaining of pain in his right knee, Paul Pogba underwent radiological examinations that revealed a lesion of the lateral meniscus,” Juventus said in a statement.

The 29-year-old will not go to Dallas, Texas with the club, according to Juventus, who stated that the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner “will undergo a specialist orthopedic consultation” in the coming hours to complete his therapy.

The Italian team is on a preseason tour in the United States.

Juventus has confirmed that they will travel from California to Texas, where they will take on Spanish club Barcelona in a friendly on Tuesday.

Pogba left Manchester United at the end of the previous campaign when his deal with the English team ran out.

The French star, a free agent this summer, returned to Juventus on July 11.

Pogba returned to Manchester United from Juventus in 2016 for a second stint with the club.

From 2012 until 2016, he was a regular with Juventus, winning four Italian Serie A championships.

In the largest soccer transaction of 2016, the English club spent €105 million ($116.4 million) to get Pogba from Juventus.

He helped Manchester United win the 2017 UEFA Europa League and two English League Cups in 2010 and 2017 respectively.

Pogba, one of France’s key players, assisted his country in winning the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
