Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz claims first F1 win

After winning at Silverstone on Sunday afternoon, Carlos Sainz can now claim to be a Formula One champion.

The Spaniard secured the sport’s first-ever pole position yesterday and was unstoppable in his pursuit of the victory, navigating the chaos of the British Grand Prix to take the lead alongside Lewis Hamilton and Sergio Perez.

Alex Albon got caught up in the chaos as well, crashing into the pitwall and then being hit by numerous vehicles. As a result, he needed to be examined by the track’s medical personnel and then taken to the hospital for additional precautionary procedures.

Zhou, meanwhile, had medical examinations but was happily given the all-clear. In reality, this could have been a very gloomy Sunday at Silverstone if not for the significant advancement in safety we’ve seen in Formula One over the years.

When the race restarted, Sainz had been spared after being caught by Max off the line the first time, and he was able to hold onto the lead at the second attempt.

However, Sainz had taken off in front and would have no trouble winning the race, joining Perez and Hamilton on the podium.

Lando Norris finished ahead of Verstappen in sixth place, while Leclerc finished fourth ahead of Alonso. Mick Schumacher gave Verstappen a strong push in the dying laps, and the German eventually finished eighth to earn his first-ever world championship points.

In the meantime, Kevin Magnussen in the other Haas finished ahead of Sebastian Vettel in eighth place on his birthday.
