La Liga has expanded its battle against Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain by launching a complaint with Uefa alleging Financial Fair Play violations.
La Liga president Javier Tebas has often lambasted the duo, which he refers to as “state clubs,” and has chastised PSG for signing star striker Kylian Mbappe to a new multi-million pound deal in May.
Since then, Premier League City has announced Erling Haaland’s £51.2 million transfer from Borussia Dortmund.
Both players piqued Real Madrid’s interest in signing them.
“La Liga understands that the irregular financing of these clubs is carried out, either through direct money injections or through sponsorship and other contracts that do not correspond to market conditions or make economic sense,” said La Liga.
“La Liga considers that these practices alter the ecosystem and the sustainability of football, harm all European clubs and leagues, and only serve to artificially inflate the market, with money not generated in football itself.”
The complaint against PSG was filed this week, while the one against City was filed in April, however La Liga has stated that it maintains the right to pursue these cases further.
