Argentina defeated Italy 3-0 in the final of the 2022 CONMEBOL-UEFA Cup of Champions (Finalissima).
Lautaro Martinez scored the game’s opening goal in the 28th minute at Wembley Stadium in London, thanks to an assist from Argentine superstar Lionel Messi.
In the 46th minute, shortly before the end of the first half, Angel Di Maria scored the White and Sky Blues’ second goal, with Martinez assisting.
With his goal in minute 94, Paulo Dybala, who came in in the second half, brought the game to a 3-0 conclusion.
This was also experienced Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini’s final appearance for the national team.
Finalissima is a football match between the winner nations of the previous South American and European championships. It is the third edition of the CONMEBOL–UEFA Cup of Champions, which is a revival of the Artemio Franchi Cup.
The previous two Artemio Franchi Cups were won by France and Argentina in 1985 and 1993, respectively.
