Everton supporter becomes viral sensation when he hides the ball from Chelsea’s Reece James

On Sunday, one Everton fan won the hearts of his fellow supporters by hiding the ball from Chelsea’s Reece James during stoppage time.

Relegation-threatened Everton boosted their survival chances with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Thomas Tuchel’s team at Goodison Park.

Richarlison scored the game’s sole goal early in the second half, leaving the Toffees in 18th position, two points from safety.

Burnley and Leeds United each have two points more than Frank Lampard’s side, although Everton have a game in hand.

Richarlison may have scored the game-winning goal, and goalkeeper Jordan Pickford may have made the finest save of the 2021-22 Premier League season, but one Everton supporter also contributed to the team’s surprising triumph.

As the clock approached full-time, the fan grabbed the ball and managed to hide it from James, who demanded it back so that play could restart.

While James was looking the other way, the fan swiftly concealed the ball up his jumper before attempting – but failing – to seem innocent.

When James moved away, the guy snatched the ball from his jumper and stuffed it behind the billboards.
