After Ashley Westwood suffered a horrific injury in the first half of Burnley’s Premier League match against West Ham, Nikola Vlasic was brought to tears. A challenge with the Croatian international left the Clarets midfielder with a probable fractured ankle, and the Croatian international was left saddened by the tackle’s fatal consequence.
Play was halted for many minutes, and both teams were forced to leave the field of play as Westwood was treated and stretchered off.
Vlasic appeared to recognize the seriousness of the injuries right away, urging emergency personnel to get to the site.
With the scores tied at 0-0 in Burnley’s first game since Sean Dyche’s sacking in midweek, Westwood’s leg looked to get hooked beneath the winger during the challenge.
Declan Rice was one of the first to console his teammate Vlasic, who was fighting back tears.
It’s a situation that has regrettably been repeated in the Premier League in recent years, and there were echoes of Son Heung-emotional min’s outburst following Andre Gomes’ awful injury (November 2019), when Vlasic tried to control his emotions.
Everyone in the London Stadium erupted in cheers as Westwood walked off the pitch before being taken to hospital.
La reacción del croata Nikola Vlašic por la lesión que accidentalmente le provocó a Westwood. Escalofriante, pero dentro de lo que cabe hubo un deportivismo que hace años no se veía.
Mucha fuerza al inglés Ashley Westwood.
