LASERS target Mohamed Salah and Egypt during a vital World Cup qualifier against Senegal

Before Mohamed Salah missed his penalty in the key World Cup qualifying shootout loss to Senegal, dozens of lasers were aimed at him.

Senegal defeated Egypt in a shootout in a rematch of the Africa Cup of Nations final earlier this year, advancing to the 2022 World Cup.

The contest was at 1-1 on aggregate, with the second leg taking place in Senegal on Tuesday night, with home fans shooting lasers at Egypt players throughout the game.

Salah was showered with lasers when taking Egypt’s first penalty in the shootout, with the stakes at their highest and a spot in the World Cup on the line.

The Liverpool striker missed his penalty attempt after attempting to beat Edouard Mendy, but the failure did not seem to matter at the time because the first four spot-kicks had all failed to hit the back of the net.

Senegal, on the other hand, quickly took control, with Sadio Mane once again the hero, securing a 3-1 shootout victory less than two months after scoring the game-winning goal in the AFCON final.
