UEFA EURO 2020 winners Italy will face Copa América winners Argentina in the Finalissima 2022

For the first time since 1993, the European Champions and Copa America Champions will compete for the trophy.

This summer, Wembley Stadium will host an intercontinental match that will pit the European champions against the South American champions.

For the first time in 29 years, the CONMEBOL-UEFA Cup of Champions will be contested by the best national teams from both continents.

Argentina, led by Diego Maradona, defeated Denmark in the last edition of the competition in 1993, and the Albiceleste have a chance to win it again this year.

The competition pits Europe’s champions against their South American counterparts in a one-off match.

After UEFA and CONMEBOL inked a new pact in September 2021, the event was decided to be revived this year. The two organisations would collaborate by sharing an office in London and staging numerous football events.

The first of these tournaments will be a confrontation between the champions of each continent at Wembley Stadium.

The new agreement between CONMEBOL and UEFA ensures that the match between their respective champions, which takes place every four years, will be staged more often.

On Wednesday, June 1, 2022, the event will take place.
