The Batman Global Box Office Sweeps Up $110 Million Opening Friday

The Batman, directed by Matt Reeves, has finally had its opening weekend, and it is off to a fantastic start at the box office. The film made $57 million on Friday and is on set for a $120-130 million domestic opening weekend, but now the overseas box office statistics for this superhero epic are starting to trickle in, and they’re just as good. According to Deadline, the next Batman big-screen adventure has earned $54 million in 74 global markets through Friday, putting it on track for an international opening weekend total of more than $110 million.

The film began its worldwide run in Korea on Tuesday, before spreading to 73 other markets on Friday. It has grossed $26 million on 30,218 screens in that market alone. Furthermore, on Saturday, Korea added $3.52 million to the current amount, which is remarkable given that they are presently dealing with an Omicron variety surge.

Other notable markets include the United Kingdom, where the film has grossed $6.4 million as of Friday, its second-highest opening day since the outbreak began. When previews are factored in, the total rises to $6.7 million, putting it ahead of pictures like Joker, The Dark Knight, and the latest Sci-Fi epic Dune. Dune, on the other hand, was greatly hampered by its HBO Max/theatrical same day and date release from WB, as we all know.
