‘Euphoria’ Renewed for Season 3 on HBO

The scandalous and aesthetically fantastic Sam Levinson show will return for a third season, allowing fans of the psychedelic, Zendaya-led adolescent drama to chase the same high following Season 2.

The Emmy-winning high school drama seemed a foregone conclusion for a sophomore season renewal. In addition to the dizzying amount of social media momentum and conversation it produces on a weekly basis, the first three episodes of Season 2 have nearly doubled per-episode viewership compared to the first season. To date, 14 million people have seen Season 2’s first episode, which aired on HBO and HBO Max on January 9th. Season 1’s episodes had an average viewership of 6.6 million viewers over their summer 2019 run, which is nearly a 100 percent increase. Furthermore, since the “Game of Thrones” conclusion in May 2019, the Season 2 debut was the most social premium cable program.

“Sam, Zendaya, and the entire cast and crew of ‘Euphoria’ have taken Season 2 to extraordinary heights, challenging narrative convention and form, while maintaining its heart,” announced Francesca Orsi, executive vice president, HBO Programming, in a statement. “We couldn’t be more honored to work with this gifted, wildly talented team or more excited to continue our journey with them into Season 3.“

Rue (Zendaya), a 17-year-old drug addict in the town of East Highland, must find hope and live while balancing the demands and confusions of love and loss within her group of friends and foes. Hunter Schafer, Nika King, Colman Domingo, Eric Dane, Angus Cloud, Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, Barbie Ferreira, Maude Apatow, Javon Walton, Dominic Fike, Storm Reid, Austin Abrams, Algee Smith, and Chloe Cherry all feature in Season 2.

“Euphoria,” inspired by the Israeli miniseries of the same name by Ron Leshem and Daphna Levin, is created, written, directed and executive produced by Levinson, produced in partnership with A24. Leshem and Levin executive produce “Euphoria” alongside Levinson, as well as Kevin Turen, Ravi Nandan, Drake, Adel “Future” Nur, Will Greenfield, Ashley Levinson, Hadas Mozes Lichtenstein and Zendaya.
