According to Variety, Billie Eilish and Kanye West will headline the 2022 Coachella event on Saturday and Sunday night, respectively. Swedish House Mafia is also on the schedule, though it’s unclear if they’ll be the festival’s third headliner โ the usual “throwback” position for a more seasoned artist’s reunion.
SHM previously played at Coachella in 2012, and West headlined the festival in 2011. Eilish had a breakout performance in 2019 (she would be the youngest artist to top the Coachella bill), and West headlined the festival in 2011.
The event, which is already sold out, will take place at the Empire Polo Ground in Indio, California, on the weekends of April 15-17 and April 22-24, 2022. However, given the frightening omicron spike and the Grammy Awards’ postponement this week, many are wondering whether the event will go place in April or be rescheduled for the sixth time.
In the next days, a list of confirmed artists will be released.
Variety reached out to West, Eilish, and the festival for comment, but they either declined or did not answer right away.
Coachella’s dates were shifted from April to October 2020, then to April 2021, and finally to October 2021 โ though the October 2021 dates were never formally verified by promoters โ and the current dates were posted on the festival’s website last November. Goldenvoice seldom speaks to the press and has been silent on the most of the postponements, with the exception of one from the Riverside County public health officer in January of last year.
