New ‘Euphoria’ Season 2 Trailer Teases Zendaya’s Rue’s Tragic Future

The wait for the comeback of hit drama Euphoria is nearly over. The official trailer for the show’s second season, which features the return of several iconic characters, was released today by HBO. Season 2 of Euphoria will premiere on HBO Max on January 9, with new episodes released every week.

Emmy-winner Rue Bennett, a juvenile drug addict living in East Highland who battles with rehabilitation, is played by Zendaya in the series. The second season will follow Rue as she tries to find her place in the world while navigating love, grief, and addiction, according to the description. Rue is shown dragging a mystery bag around while she attends meetings and pines for love interest Jules Vaughn in the trailer (Hunter Schafer).

Nika King, Eric Dane, Angus Cloud, Jacob Elordi, Algee Smith, Sydney Sweeney, Alexa Demie, Barbie Ferreira, Maude Apatow, Javon Walton, Dominic Fike, Storm Reid, and Austin Abrams star as various East Highland students and community members with Zendaya and Schafer.

Filming for Season 2 was supposed to start in March 2020, however owing to the epidemic, it was postponed. After the cliffhanger finale of season one, Levison wrote two solo episodes focused on Rue and Jules during the show’s break. The two specials, which will air in December 2020 and January 2021, will serve as a transition between seasons one and two.
