After a private multi-year battle with cancer, Virgil Abloh, menswear artistic director of Louis Vuitton (PARIS:MC.PA -5.81%) and Founder/CEO of Off-WhiteTM, has passed away.
The acclaimed fashion designer was noted for reshaping the world of streetwear and luxury fashion by acting as the Founder/CEO of his hugely popular luxury label Off-WhiteTM as well as the first Black fashion designer to oversee Louis Vuitton’s menswear line. As a designer and creative director, Abloh used a strategy that relied on art history, youth culture, graphic design, music, and more to integrate the industries of modern culture and luxury fashion.
LVMH and Virgil Abloh’s Instagram accounts both made remarks on the designer’s passing earlier today.
