Denmark’s players and medical personnel have been nominated for the 2021 Fifa fair play award for their response to Christian Eriksen’s heart arrest at Euro 2020 in June.
Eriksen was given life-saving CPR after falling during the Danes’ opening game against Finland, and teammates formed a circle to conceal him from cameras while also comforting his wife.
Scott Brown and Claudio Ranieri are the other candidates, for their Old Firm display of solidarity for Glen Kamara following racial abuse of the Rangers player.
Eriksen, 29, has an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD), which is a form of a pacemaker, however, due to his cardiac arrest, he is unable to play in Italy this season.
Brown, who was Celtic captain at the time, approached Kamara before the Old Firm game in March to express his support after the Finn was racially abused by Slavia Prague’s Ondrej Kudela during a Europa League match.
Uefa punished Kudela with a 10-game suspension.
In May, following Inter Milan’s first Serie A triumph in 11 years, current Watford boss Claudio Ranieri’s Sampdoria team presented Inter Milan with a guard of honor.
“A panel of experts representing both FIFA and external football stakeholders” will choose the recipient of the award.
