United was looking down the barrel of yet another defeat after goals from Mario Paali and Merih Demiral, but alas, the Red Devils pulled off their latest act of escapology to turn things around.

And it was apparent that the victory had an emotional impact on the Portuguese, who was seen falling to his knees and fist-bumping down the camera on the full-time whistle.

A pitch invader ran onto the pitch as Ronaldo made his way to the dressing room, hoping to have a moment with his hero.

He was pulled down by stewards just as he put his hand on Ronaldo’s jersey.
