78-Year-Old ‘Squid Game’ Star O Yeong-su Charged With Sexual Misconduct

According to Variety, the Korean actor Oh Yeong-su has been charged with sexual misconduct.

The 78-year-old actor, who is best known for his Golden Globe-winning role in the popular Netflix series Squid Game, was indicted on Thursday by authorities in Suwon, South Korea. He is accused of making unwanted physical contact with a woman in 2017, and the alleged victim first reported the incident to authorities in December 2021. The case was declared closed in April 2022, but it was later reopened at the victim’s request. Oh disputed the allegations when questioned about the purported encounter.

“I just held her hand to guide the way around the lake,” said Oh in a statement provided to Korean broadcaster JTBC. “I apologized because [the person] said she wouldn’t make a fuss about it but it doesn’t mean that I admit the charges.”

“Everything reported by local media is not factually correct,” a Suwon court official claimed. After the news of the indictment was made public on Friday, a TV ad featuring Oh from the Korean ministry of culture was withdrawn.
